Ideal for federally-regulated organizations that need to understand their facilities’ extent of compliance in the built environment within the scope of the Accessible Canada Act (ACA). In short, the purpose of the ACA is to make Canada barrier-free by January 1, 2040. This involves identifying, removing and preventing barriers in federal jurisdiction in a variety of priority areas – one of which is the priority area of the built environment (buildings and public spaces).
I developed a series of proprietary Technical Data Sheets to be used while measuring and observing client facilities in preparation of a Building Evaluation Report. The report includes explanation of the regulations, summary of the criteria with simple illustrations, methodology, and rational findings. It also includes tabulated data keynoted on annotated floor plans, as well as a suggested budget for remediation with line-item priority rankings.
In 2024, Nicholas Jay Architect completed this type of service for a federally-regulated enterprise. In 1 contract, I reviewed 10 facilities for a total of 570,350 square-feet of building area.
